For nearly forty years Peter Skrzynecki has published poetry that explores the assimilation of post-war immigrants in Australia, chronicling their struggle for identity and acceptance into mainstream society. His poems are elegiac, meditative and lyrical - intimately concerned with the Australian landscape, its people, fauna and flora, as well as family, human relationships and art.
Old/New World contains a generous selection of poems from his eight previous books, including Immigrant Chronicle and a new section, Blood Plums.
Peter Skrzynecki is an associate professor at the University of Western Sydney. He is the author of numerous books of poetry and prose, including the short story collection The Wild Dogs, and a memoir, The Sparrow Garden.
